Summary of Hurricane Irene

Lights out!!  No worries...Tommy had his head lamp.

And Cole used the opportunity to tell us some scary ghost stories.

We spent a good portion of the day in the playroom down the basement.  The boys loved using their flashlights to find toys and play and we came up with some creative games.  Tommy of course is always good for a creative twist on things.

We had a visit from the utility crews...

Tried on some very small fire hats...

We played with Grant (and got him to sit up!), colored pictures, organized our toy room, read books, played with trucks...we were running out of things to do!  The rain was still coming down, but the wind had died down so we figured a little swim in the hot tub might do the trick before bedtime.

Overall, the boys had a GREAT day.  "Hurricanes are awesome mom!" Cole said.  lol  When you're 3...that's exactly what you should think.

New tricks!

Look at the new trick Grant showed off today!  He can sit up!!

Come on Irene!!

We're all in our pj's...just polished off some teddy bear pancakes and waiting the arrival of Hurricane Irene!

Speaking of pjs...see those pajamas Grant is wearing?  They are size 18 months!  He is our little string bean...all legs!

Let's hope the scene stays blissful here.  We're having a fun morning with only a few power outages so far.  Hope everyone stays safe in the storm!

Toothy grin!!

Amidst all the chaos that was July, Grant cut his first two teeth.  He was grumpy for a couple of days...then poof!  There they were.  He opened his mouth VERY wide when you pulled on his lower lip to see them.  So silly.

Now of course he is showing them off every chance he gets.  AND now that he has teeth he has found a new addiction -- puffs!  These little flavored wheat puffs for babies melt in their mouth and he is smitten.  He opens his mouth in a little O shape and waits if he hears the shake of the container.  By far, his favorite flavor is Apple Cinnamon.  I think he would skip dinner and just eat puffs if he could!  Oh...and he is getting used to the camera now.  Say cheese!

Peas and Milk Please!

Grant is the funniest little baby.  He is LOVING his food lately and he definitely has favorites.  Peas have to top the list.  This kid would eat bowls of them if I let him!  One thing that he does that cracks me up is he clears his throat when he wants a bottle.  No crying.  (Well unless I am really testing his patience.)  He also likes to have a little drink while he's eating.  So picture this.  He sees the peas and squeals.  Opens his mouth like a little bird and sighs with pleasure after each spoonful.  Clears his throat so I give him his bottle...takes a few sips...then repeat.  It's so funny!  He's a little smartypants.

The Dynamic Duo!!

I've been so behind that I was getting stressed about being behind...then every day I would fall more behind!!  SOOO...I will catch up on July when I can...but here is the latest in our adventures.  :)

Yesterday we had a BIG day for the boys.  Cole and Tommy have been saving gift cards from their Uncle Joey to Stride Rite for a full year as we were waiting for their big sale to cash in.  They've been eyeballing Star Wars sneakers there for awhile and both boys wanted (of all things) rain gear.  No lie.  Anyway, the *stars* aligned yesterday so off we went...gift cards in wallets.  :)  As we pulled into the parking lot, Cole declared, "I am getting superhero rain boots, too!"

The level of our success can only be defined best by this photo:

These raincoats are AMAZING!!  And of course, the matching boots arrived today.  And wait until you see their amazing new sneakers! (video coming soon)  Tommy picked red...Cole blue...and are you ready for their shoe size?  How about 11!!!!  These guys are super tall....already wearing 5T in most things.  Crazy!

I had the BEST day with all my superheroes....the Dynamic Duo...and Superboy!

Oh July....

Our July was CRAZY.  Literally.  And I have so many pictures to post!!  From Grants baptism...his first tooth...Grandma's visit...Tommy and Cole swim lessons...starting summer camp....mommy doing the Susan G. Komen 60-mile walk...then to top it off...our annual summer theme bash.  (This year we had nearly 100 guests!!!)  So...forgive me for being a little lax in posting.  I need to take the next week to organize photos...my thoughts...and my house.  :)  But I PROMISE...new photos will be coming very, very soon!
