Roseola Blues

For the past week, both of the boys have had pretty high fevers on and off. We thought it was a stomach bug at first, but it just lingered on. Then this morning, Cole woke up with a rash all over his body that just continued to spread...so off to the doctors we went.

Turns out Cole (and most likely Tommy) has roseola. A common childhood virus that is characterized by high fevers that last for several days and ends with a rash. The doctor said that just being around other kids is usually the cause, so it goes without question that these social butterflies were a walking target. :) The good news is that Cole's rash means that the virus has finally left his body. Tommy is about two days behind him.

What a relief to hear that it isn't anything serious!! It's terrible seeing my little munchkins sick. At the moment, Cole is happily sucking on a lollipop and showing Tommy his "Bob the Builder" sticker that the nurses gave him. So funny...

Paragon Park Carousel

This morning we decided to take the kids to check out the old Paragon Park Carousel at Nantasket Beach in Hull. I haven't been there since I was a kid...and it was nice to see that not much had changed inside. We let the boys check it out for awhile before getting our tickets. Cole wanted NOTHING to do with sitting on a horse. Tommy on the other hand loved it so much he and Kevin had to go back for another ride.

Tommy on his "horsie"...

Poor Cole...just not into it today.

Tommy yelling to Cole about something fun he saw around the corner. Cole loved watching him and cracked up every time they came around.

Happy boy on his horsie!

I got some cute video of Tommy while he was riding. You'll notice that with each spin around...he gets bolder and bolder. By the end he is yelling "woah! woah!" to his horse like a real cowboy. :)

Artists at work!

With tropical storm Danny making his debut today, we were stuck inside. After *swimming* in the hot tub, knocking down block towers with balls and dancing...we finally broke out the finger paints. They had a blast!

Tommy's new boots...

Yesterday, my mom and I took the boys to Stride Rite to get new shoes. They grew from a size 6 shoe...to an 8!! Holy crap! Poor guys must have been walking around with pinched tootsies. Anyway, while browsing the store, Tommy spotted these Thomas the Tank Engine boots and it was love at first sight.

After naps, Tommy came down stairs and demanded that he wear his choo choo boots to our play date yesterday afternoon. Mind you...it is 90 degrees and humid. Well...he wore them all afternoon...all through dinner...and would have worn them to bed if we didn't draw the line. :) Here he is modeling his new favorite "choo choo shoes".

Cape Cod Play Date

This morning we made our way south with famed Nico and Isabella to Barnstable on Cape Cod for a play date with some of our other twin friends. The kids were so cute. Here they are...minus Cole who was melting down at this point...sitting side by side on the couch. Tommy and Cole are always the big guys in the bunch. :) Remember those Michelin man legs they used to have??

Lunch!!

Exhausted...the fantastic four made their way home. Luckily, Karen had extra car seats so we could all make the journey together. Thanks Heidi for a GREAT day!

Identical looks...eating habits? Ummmm....

It's funny how things changed. When these two were infants, Tommy was my messy baby. Always spitting up...formula dribbling down his chin... Now? Polar opposite! He is super neat and doesn't like his foods even touching on his plate. Everything in its place. He eats slowly too....savoring every bite.

Cole? You better duck when dinner is over! Clearly this is the part of their DNA that is different. This video demonstrates his style best. :)

Picnic in the park....

Yesterday Joe came over with the most amazing picnic lunch for everyone! It was such a fun surprise. We laid great grandma's blanket down in a shady spot by the boys swing set and enjoyed an incredible feast with Auntie Beth, Dad, Mom, Uncle Joe and the boys. We dined on lobster salad, Italian sandwiches, fresh fruit, chicken for the kids, pirate booty (very fitting) and even half moon cookies. The boys had a blast!

After lunch, we played on the swing set. Here are some pictures from our picnic in the park. :)

"Two" Cool

The boys have a new fascination with sunglasses. Not their own of course...just Kevin's or mine. I came into the kitchen this morning and there they were...sporting their shades.

They walk around with them on for half the morning. Then take them off when its time to go outside. Hmmm...got to work on that.

Twinpalooza 2009 - The Invasion of Story Land!!!

This weekend was our big reunion in Story Land! 6 families converged to have fun and chill out with the kids. It was so much fun watching them all interact. Last year they were crawling and just starting to walk...this year they were RUNNING and just so funny with each other. The kids did really well and seemed to enjoy the park.

We have some funny stories...and everyone got great photos. I'll post a few more over the next few days. Still sifting through them all!

One group shot (missing Emily's family...)

The t-shirts were so cute!

Tommy LOVING the ball pit!

Video from the condo....

It was a great trip!!! I had to include this video below as it was too funny not to include. The drive ended up taking us close to 5 hours with the rain and traffic. (usually a three hour drive) Anyway, after being pent up in the car...the boys were crazy men when we got to the condo.
