Our morning at the beach...

As the weekend forecast was looking dreary, Wednesday I took the boys to the beach for some fresh air. It was a beautiful day...the sun was warm...the air crisp. The clam diggers were out on the beach in full force giving the boys lots to look at.

Between the sea gulls, sand, digging and...did I mention sand? They were in heaven! They both tasted some sand and (happily) I think neither liked it much. So they opted to find shells, rocks and sticks...which apparently are far more appetizing.

Looking at this picture I can suddenly see it. My babies are growing up. They are discovering the world around them, wrestling with each other, demanding more Cheerios and practicing their first steps. My babies are fast becoming little boys.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited to see them grow. But there are moments - like our morning at the beach - when I wish I could keep them this age forever.

I just love this picture. Last night while the boys were waiting for dinner, they kept each other company by making silly faces and laughing their butts off. It was adorable!

11 Months Old

It's hard to believe that the boys are already 11 months old...only a couple of weeks away from their first birthday!!! I keep thinking back to a year ago...how nervous and excited we were to be parents. How BIG my belly was! Now I can't even imagine life without them.

At 11 months old, their personalities are already so developed. Cole is our laid back, social baby...he loves to giggle and play with all the other kids. And he is my flirt. If there is a pretty girl any where in the vicinity, he tilts his head to the side and makes eyes at her. :) He is rarely without a smile.

Tommy is our emotional adventure seeker. He is the first to try something and he loves attention. As the daredevil, he usually acts first...thinks later. Then when things go awry...he falls apart just as quickly! He loves books, climbing, music and his brother.

At 11 months - this is what they are up to:

- They no longer use bottles.
- They eat solid foods and it is becoming clear that Tommy wants to hold his own spoon.
- They go out to lunch or dinner at restaurants and behave so well.
- They both pull themselves up on furniture, toys, your legs, each other...and "cruise" the room moving from place to place.
- They are the proud owners of their first pair of "walking shoes".
- Tommy can climb stairs. (He actually climbed the entire flight of stairs to bed tonight. EEK!)
- They say mama, dada, nana and baba. They blow raspberries, say no by nodding their heads and try and copy just about everything you do.
- They are best friends...really. They travel everywhere together and will work together to topple over a basket of toys or encourage the other to do something they are not supposed to. (Silence or squeals of laughter are the clues that they are up to no good!)

It's exciting to think what they'll be doing in another month. Every day they've learned something new and it has been such a joy to watch them discover it all. Last summer things we're certainly quiet around here. What a wonderful difference a year makes!

Rockstar Hair

Can you believe these guys are 11 months old tomorrow? Kevin gives them rockstar hair from time-to-time and they love it. I think they look adorable. You can tell that Cole thinks he is so *cool*... :)
